International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People 29 November 2005

In 1977, the General Assembly called for the annual observance of November 29th as the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. The UN resolution commemorates the day of solidarity on the anniversary of the adoption of the 1947 UN partition plan for Palestine.  The partition plan called for the establishment of independent Jewish and Arab States in Palestine.

However, 57 years later, there still is not an independent Arab State in Palestine.  For the past 38 years, Israel's illegal military occupation of the Palestinian West Bank, Gaza Strip, and East Jerusalem has prevented the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.  Take part in this day of solidarity to protest Israel continued illegal military occupation of the West Bank and Gaza.

The importance of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People cannot be underrated, it cannot be ignored, and it cannot be forgotten.

In an effort to remember the ones that passed on and the ones that continue to suffer under a colonial power which denies them basic human rights, SPHR invites you to be part of an annual remembrance day.
