Academics against ‘post-Zionist’ professors    Anat Bereshkovsky

2. Fanticism by any other name...
This goes just to show that our worst enemies from within and without have so much in common. These Big Brothers, like their allies in the UK, Canada and elsewhere who call for a boycott of Israeli universities and academics, do not care about academic freedom, as long as their own distorted, narrow view of reality is heard.
Ilan Pape is just as much an extremist as his rightwing colleagues. Whereas he labels every possible support for Zionism as imperialism, apartheid or whatever, they view every critic of Zionism or of aspects of Israeli politics as a traitor, fifth column, etc. Les extremes se touchent, no matter whether that extremist wears a kippa, a turban or an anti-globalization t-shirt.

5. Brent & Plaut - Dumb and Dumber
The whole POINT of academia is learning and debating ideas and opinions (even in the history dept).

Not sure where Plaut received his PhD - but he should certainly know better.

Harvard has its communists, Moscow U its democratics and Israel its "post-zionists". And if Plaut really understood anything about education and "movements" he would take down his website and bring the debate to where it belongs - the classroom.

7. Bravo!
I fully support the right for individuals to have and express their opinions IN APPROPRIATE SETTINGS. As a recent graduate from Hebrew University, there were a number of courses in which I was made to feel extremely uncomfortable to the point of dropping them, due to the Professors unabashed anti-Israel bias. Speaking with others in the Israeli academic world, I learned that it is incredibly difficult for those with right-wing political opinions to get promotions or even respect from the colleagues. I would have greatly appreciated this sort of organization during my student days.

8. anti-semites
The Turkish census of 1905, which gives these figures for the inhabitants of Jerusalem: Jews, 45,000; Moslems, 8,000; Orthodox Christians, 6000; Latins, 2500; Armenians, 950; Protestants, 800; Melkites, 250; Copts, 150; Abyssinians, 100; Jacobites, 100; Catholic Syrians, 50.

The vast majority of Arabs currently residing in Israel and the territories are descendants of recent immigrants.

9. Baruch Hashem - PS They dont debate, they force their views
on the students, you will never see a clean debate with anti zionists, just a force feeding of their propoganda.

It has to be stopped from brainwashing our students.

This is great and they must be exposed

10. censorship is not the solution
a matture democratic country is the one who can deal with different ideas, even if those ideas are opposite to what the country stands for. if we need censorship in academia is maybe because students are not so bright to make their own judgments...that should be the main worry, the lack of capability, not the opinions and teachings group of professors.

I recently came across Tatiana Maneker's name on the net, and read a couple of fascinating articles about American Universities. Incredible, but apparently true:

13. Seeing the light of day
All people of good concious should be offened by those who would attack anyone if they disagree (like maybe calling someone a anti-semite if they don't like the settlements.) A democracy needs a healthy debate, all voices need to be included. Bringing facts to the light of day dispells the propaganda and demogogery.

The same situation exists here in the US: The administration treats acadamia and scientist like "evil doers." We live in very dark times, it's the 60's all over again.

what t,he zionists are trying to CENSOR free thought? You cant- people will think for themselves- those prof.fessors that see the injustices that Israel performs daily have a right to voice it- you pro israel jews blabber on all day long at the injustices that the Arabs do-

15. #7 anti-semites
Great example of using misleading numbers - it is true that the vast majority of people living in Jerusalem in 1905 were Jews but that is NOT true for Palestine as a whole. In 1900 94% of the Palestinian population of about 600,000 were Arabs. See Wikipaedia and many other sources http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palestine#Demographics_in_the_late_Ottoman_and_British_Mandate_periods

16. Ron and "American" I laugh in your faces
as does every Jew, we have Israel and you have a baron desert.

Yeah, you hate Jews, same old, same old.

You scream "numbers look at population counts", look "a wall!!!!!", "oo this and that and this and that".

But in the end, it means nothing since we won the battle and the wars, we have Jerusalem, we have Haifa, we have Tel Aviv, and we have Israel.

Every single Jew laughs in your faces.

If you want "PEACE NOW", its up to you and your own people to silence your guns and your tongues.

We have Israel, loosers. Seeth all you want but we have it and we WON.

17. Important to see
It is important for the Israelis and Jews to see what kind of rhetoric has taken over "liberal" left-wing academia and media.

It is extremely dangerous to stick our collective head in the ground and not notice how vile anti-Israeli sentiment is in these circles.
In that sense it is important that as many Israelis experience this first hand -- even within the state-funded Israeli academic setting!!!
For that reason I would like to encourage you to read bbcnews.com
on a daily basis to see just how far this has gone. They don't have 1 good word to say about Israel, while they whitewash abuses in Iran and other Arab countries!

18. Absolute nonsense
"[C]omments about Israel’s injustices against the Palestinians, the lack of equality for Israel’s Arab citizens, and democracy’s limitations in [Israel]" are not in any way un-Zionist. Zionism does not mean unconditionally supporting all acts of Medinat Yisrael and its government. If it did, I think most, if not all, of us would be "post-Zionist," including the various fascists on here.

19. It's the same in the U.S.
Conservative-minded/Republican students are kept from expressing their opinion in classes and even given failing grades if they don't espouse the 'politically-correct' party line. This is totalitarianism! That is why Campus Wath was formed, to expose which professors conduct their classes in a fascistic manner. I applaud this organization here in Israel and hope students will stand up to these so-called 'professors!'

21. FIGHT THE ROMAN 'P' FRAUD ON THE TITLE & ALL ILL CONCEPTS
ISRAEL IS THE ONLY TRUE TITLE TO THE LAND.
THE JEWISH PEOPLE ARE THE
EXCLUSIVE CLAIMANTS TO THE
THE LAND OF ISRAEL,
A PORTION OF LAND SWORN BY GOD FOR THE POSSESSION
AND INHERRITANCE OF THE JEWISH PEOPLE.
TRUE BORDERS OF ISRAEL ARE DEFINED AND LEGITIMIZED IN THE
HOLY HEBREW BIBLE, ( THE BEST SELLER OF ALL TIMES, THE MOST REVERED BOOK BY ALL). FROM
THE PRAT TO THE NILE, IS ISRAEL'S RIGHTFUL PORTION
AND THIS FACT WILL NEVER CHANGE, AS THE LAW OR GOD
WILL NEVER CHANGE.
THE RESTORATION AND REUNIFICATION OF THE LAND OF ISRAEL IS THE BLUPRINT FOR TRUE PEACE.
ANYONE WHO GOES AGAINST THIS SACRED PLAN IS AN ENEMY
AND HATER OF GOD THE BIBLE AND THE JEWISH PEOPLE.
THE LEFTISTS SUFFER FROM DELUSIONAL AND BACKWARDS THINKING.
These professors must be dismissed from their academic positions and stripped of f their titles , for poisoning the minds
of the public with delusional anti
Jewish propaganda that is synonimous with nazi hate rhetorics and libelous malicious propaganda.

The Arab terrorists in isrel and their supporting population are operating under a ficticious identity the roman
'p' word, also used as a cloud on the title to the land , the 'p' state.
FIGHT THE ROMAN FRAUD IS THE
KEY TO TRUE PEACE.

22. Academic Standards
The problem some of you leftists and liberals aren't grasping is:

1) Academics are licensed to impart the information students need to successfully perform their jobs. They are not licensed to uncritically offer propaganda as truth. If, as some historians do, they have a perspective that is well documented, nobody is complaining about that. It's the inability to accept or compare other views that dispute their own that makes them inappropriate as scholars and professors.

2) Academia has made "political science" into "political art". There's a big difference between art and science, and an academic who lowers the standards of rigor that science requires and passes his "art" (or feelings, or opinions) as though they are demonstrable fact, is not worthy of the title of professor unless he is indeed a professor in the arts. But why, say, a professor of engineering would have any right as such to pass judgment on a political conflict and have his job be any more secure than anyone else's as though his being an academic makes his opinion an expression of "academic freedom" is illogical.

3) On both of the above grounds, Ilan Pappe is an artist who presents himself as a scientist, and as a sociologist, he's not qualified to speak of the entire corpus of history as though this is his expertise. If he wants to support Palestinians on his own private time, nobody is stopping him. But to hide behind "academic freedom" is just a dodge. He should be told to stop, or be fired.
