Israel–Palestine: A Catastrophe in the Making
An Israeli–Palestinian Research Project
Academic Directors: Prof. Adi Ophir, Dr. Sari Hanafi and Michal Givoni

This research project explores the transformations of the Israeli
occupation of the Palestinian territories since the outbreak of the second Intifada, and addresses the political, juridical, economic and social implications of its re–framing as a political disaster in the making. An interdisciplinary team of Palestinian, Israeli and international scholars works on elucidating the mechanisms of power, the logic of rule and the discursive regimes that both create and contain the catastrophic effects of the occupation in its current phase.

In April 2004, the group held a two–day conference on The Politics of Humanitarianism in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. Abstracts of the papers presented in the conference are available as well as the videotaped proceedings. The written proceedings of the conference are available in CD format; if you wish to receive them, please contact.

Assistance or resistance: a false dillema? Humanitarian action in the Occupied Palestinian Territories and in other states of occupation. Proceedings of a seminar with Dr. Rony Brauman held on 18 November 2005 are available for download here.

A conference on "Gaza Strip: The Politics of Chaos" was held in December 2006. Video recordings
