Subject: The Needs of Susiya
To: Ehud Krinis <krinis@bgu.ac. il>

Below you can see a photo of the partly burnt Diwan in Susiya. It was taken this morning by the volunteers of Machsom Watch.
The fire which was quickly turned of, was set from the outside.
The Villages Group is involved in Susiya in different ways:
The COMET renewable energy project ( http://www.comet- me.org/) in Susiya is about to enter another stage, this time with the help of the German Consulate and the Firedoll NGO.
There is a need to buy a new school bus for the children of Susiya. By the help of the US-Omen NGO we obtain 7,500$ of the 12,500$ needed for this purchase.
The cost of driver salary the gas and other expenses of the children transportation (from Susiya and elsewhere in the region) there is a need for some 13,000$ per a year. 7,500$ of this sum is covered by the British Shalom-Salaam Trust.
This year we are able to send six young women from from Susiya and another six from the area to professional courses, by a 12,000$ aid of the Center of Emerging Future.
This year we were also able to give scholarships  to five students from Susiya and to twelve other students from the south Mt. area by the support of US-Omen. We  now seek for for the 10,000$ needed for the continuation of this project.
Last but not least, we obtain about 1750$ of the 2,200$ needed for the Susiya Summer Camp, due to take place next month.
All those needs should be  considered as essential, against the background of the settlers aggression, the passive-active reaction of the Israeli occupation forces (which aim  to make the life of the local Palestinian residents unbearable), and a Palestinian Authority which just ignore this area altogether.
